He was extremely knowledgeable about the various sights, and made an effort to point out and explain everything - whether it was on the road passing the rice plantations, to the tea plantations, etc. He drove us safely to all the requested sights, and that was no easy feat, as traffic was rather hectic. We did whatever was on our tour itinerary and my only regret was that I only stayed 4 days and not longer as there is so much more to see and take in. I will definitely visit again and personally request Asanka as our guide.

It was so lovely to be guided through to Dambulla at the most beautiful eco resort "Kandalama", to comfortably settle in and then begin our busy itinerary which more than met our expectations. Our highlights, were the village tour, and learning traditional cooking lessons ! We cannot make enough dahl and roti on our return from our trip! The joyous people we met during the Adams Peak climb, an absolute necessity, as was driving though the beautiful Green Hills in the tea plantation country, visiting the museum which explains the newly developed hydro electric dams which power all of Sri Lanka. Every experience where we met locals and learned their trades from brick making to tea making, was memorable! Sri Lanka has so much to offer! Day 2: Sigirya Rock at dawn (not to be missed), then drive to Kandy with interesting stops at a wood craft workshop and a spice garden (no obligation to buy stuff); cultural show at night. Day 3: explored Kandy including old palace, monastery, church, lake and botanical gardens; on the drive back to Colombo we made stops at a batik factory, gem workshop (no obligation to buy) and a tea factory (at my request). I had an excellent driver & guide in Shantha, who was good company as I was traveling solo; I enjoyed our conversation on the long journey. He helped expedite arrangements at the sites, gave more than ample time for self-exploration and never made me feel constrained by schedule. He gave really helpful tips and added stops based on our discussions. All prior arrangements were made via email with Chaminda, who responded on time and was very helpful setting up a very compact itinerary. We went in a Honda sedan, which is fine for 1-3 people. As such, I highly recommend Chamo Tours if you are thinking of visiting Sri Lanka. Note that a 3 day tour that I did is probably the minimum time for a reasonable tour of Sri Lanka as the interesting sites are spread around the vast island. Note that there is alot of driving involved so be mindful when bringing small kids and those prone to motion illness.

We visited the famous cultural cities as Dambulla, Sigiriya,Pollonaruwa, Kandy,Galle.
We were in the hills in Nuwara Eliya and we spent 2 days in the Yala national park. We rest in the ocean side in the village Indurawa.

I booked my hotels but he gave me names. Asanka was our driver for the 8 day trip. He was a good driver, always punctual, patient, fun, nice, by the end of the trip, he was a good friend. He brought us places we wouldn't of known or got the chance to see if we were on a tour with a big company. Really, Chamindra and Asanka made us fall in love with their country. Oh, and Sri Lanka has the best spicy food! Ask to make it spicy for sri lankans, not for tourists! Be prepared to sweat with joy!
